A PowerPoint file containing multiple mpeg1 files played beautifully in PowerPoint v.X on Mac OS X. It plays fine in Keynote 2. In PowerPoint 2004 the audio plays but the video does not.

I have tried multiple conversions using QT and FCE,(avi using cinepak and H.264, mov using H.264, and both in different sizes and data rates) and have not found a conversion that doesn’t degrade the quality unacceptably. I was told that conversion should be a last resort but in hours of searching on the web I can find no reference to a Mac compatible video codec that will play the mpg1 file in PowerPoint 2004.

Is there something I am missing? Is there a way to get it to play in PP2004 as a mpg1? What is the best conversion if that won’t work. This only has to play on a Mac in either v.X or 2004.

Not sure if this will help, but here goes: I use QuickTime Pro for Windows, and the default setting for Quality (for any produced video) is Medium, which I think is LOUSY. You have to manually go to options, settings and drag the cursor to the right to get better results.
