Sethgreenwood Guest | Hello,
so I installed a new video card, (geforce 6600 256 DDR, I had a differnt card before)
and none of my videos will work, avi, mpegs, whatever, in windows media player. I tred uninstalling all video drvs/codacs, and reinstalling, nothing, I downloaded VLC media player, nothing.
So I broke down, figuing there was some codac conflict, did a format and a clean install of windows, downloaded and installed lastest vers of video drivers and all the windows updates, still nothing! downloaded VLC again, still nothing!
Please help?
I know the videos are good because I watched them before I bought the new card (I burned them on CD before clean install).
The video card doesn’t seem to have any systimic problems, (It plays world of warcraft fine).
I have used gspot, it freazes on the '2' render option.
When I play a video in windows media player it hangs on 'conneting' forever, if I close it it stays in the task list till I 'end process' on it, slowing down computer almost to a halt.
With VCL player, it plays the sound but not the video, it also slows computer to a halt, and also stays open forever after I try to play video unless I 'end process' on it.
I have tried turning hardware acceleration down or off too, same result.
