Cthulhupunk0 Guest | After owning a PMP Sunplus MP$ player for about a year now, I decided to look into firmware, better conversion tools, etc. for it recently.
Folks, from what I’ve found, there are some solid truths about these things.
(1)THERE ARE NO WORTHWHILE FIRMWARE UPGRADES. In fact, unless someone has a lot of time to kill AND gets very lucky, screwing with the firmware on these things will turn it into a paperweight.
(2)THEY’RE QUIRKY. My personal player will have issues with mp3s over time (esp. when the battery gets low) and I’ve watched the stored start up image slowly deteriorate over months (1/2 of the screen is lime green instead of the pic now).
(3)THE ASF TYPE IS A LITTLE ODD. See previous portions of the this thread.
One thing I’d like to do is to get a firmware .bin file to work with on mine, but I have no firmware experience at all so I don’t even know where to start. If there was a good way to rip the firmware image, though, it would be possible to create a recovery with the ISP tool(see previous in thread).
This would solve the don’t-even-try-this problem with the firmware. I believe earlier it was mentioned that shorting two pins could take a dead player and make it receptive again.

I too didn’t get the software CD along with the product JXD 661 and even though I asked the shop owner about the CD, he simply said that he didn’t know. And the worst part is that I didn’t find this product in any other shop in the city. So would someone be kind enough to send me or tell me the site where I can download the CD software.

You are my saviour. I purchased JXD 921 and the manual is in Chinese. Thankx for the manual. I am not finding any problems with the player except for navigation, its excellent. The main thing I found missing is folder support (indirect way of playlists + Mp3 fast farward is too slow. There is no 2x and 4x fast forward like they have given for video).

Vaz Guest | I have purchased JXD921 from Shengai almost a year ago through a friend of mine.
Two days back I had inserted a virus infected SD card into the player.
I listen some songs and switched it OFF.
Then on next day when I press the ON switch, the green led does not glow neither
does the lcd light up.
Is it that virus has crashed the firmware?
can antyhing be done sir to make it work.
since then i’m very much tensed as its my only investment I had done for me.
is it possible to reload the firmware.
if so plz let me know the procedure so that i can at least try it from my side
