dreamkatcha Guest | Has anyone else got one of these?
My brother bought me one for Christmas not knowing that it wouldn’t play nicely with my Mac. Anyone else in the same situation?
What I thought I’d do is copy stuff to the player via a separate SD card and reader and encode movies using something other than the PMP Transcoder Tool, but I’ve hit another brick wall because these devices are so finicky about the movie formats they can decode.
My only other option is to only use the device with my Windows PC at work, which isn’t ideal.

sparkdanny Guest | how do i put films onto an mp4 player

dreamkatcha Guest | You use Windows Explorer to drag and drop them to the device once it’s mounted via a USB cable, but first they have to be transcoded to the right format. The 'right' format depends on the model of your MP4 player. Some players insist that movies be placed in a specific folder so make sure you check your manual before proceeding.

Alec Guest | Hi all, ive been reading up on this post, its one of the only ones on the internet related to the Sunplus PMP software.
im currently investigating what makes the pmp transcoding special.
so far ive looked at using vitual dub with the settings supplied by “Roberto79” (http://www.moviecodec.com/topics/12289p14.html)
which is good, accept for it has dodgy sound quality, and i know why
i believe my pmp needs 48,000 sound, where as most vids on computers are at 44100, which comes out destorted on the pmp’s
anyway if i find a way, which i will evenually i’ll post it up.
btw is anyone else still working on fixing this?
also anyone found a way to use folders on the mp3 section?
cheers

Alec Guest | This is the video file produced by the sunplus tool
Video : 15.765 fps, 352*288 (4:3), DIVX = DIVX4,
Audio : 1536 Kbps, 48000 Hz, 2 channels, 0x1 = PCMS16LE
with regards to the audio, ive only managed to get it to PCM, not PCMS16LE
im pretty sure LE means little endian, but not sure what th S16 is
btw as soon as ive cracked this i’ll post a tutorial on how to batch convert too

Alec Guest | download Video Lan Player, to play the Asf files, also you may need to change the quality of the video, try using the middle setting, but i’d leave the sound at 48k

BigPussy Guest | PCMS16LE = 8,000Khz audio. Convert the video files 2 Divx4 @ 320×240.

what are you using to do the conversion? since i cant find anything that results in the codec being Divx 4, also PCM seems to work fine when its 48,000, but id be interested to try your one please.
thanks

BigPussy Guest | U need a tool called RipRoar. It is actually a tool 4 PVR (Personal Video Recorder) It works on all PMP. U can’t get the RipRoar conversion tool if U do not have a PVR. I have had no idea how much it cost 4 a PVR in the UK, but in the US @ WalMart, it cost 47 US dollar.
Toyquest RipRoar 512 MB from WalMart.
Google 4 Toyquest RipRoar 512 MB n read all about it.
Happy New Year
Note: US model differ from Europe.
