Sound is fine...but picture is black!!!!

hi,

i am trying to encode an avi file to mpg so that i can burn it to VCD. but when i encode it using tmpgEnc the picture is black but the sound is fine.

the reslts are also the same if i try to use nero to do both the conversion and burning.

is this a codec problem? if so how do i find out what is the correct codec to use?
