Cabola Guest | Never mind, I’ve figured it out, the avi file I tried to view have been fucked up. Guess it was because I tried to view it before I installed divx or something.

cthulu Guest | I have attempted to use Nero to burn Avi files to VCDs. The files are only around 300 MBs, but Nero always tells me there is not enough space on one CD for the encoded files. What’s the problem? These are single episodes, about 40 minutes long. I wait an hour for Nero to encode them, and then I get the bad news.....

Jessika Guest | Ok I previously downloaded a dvd video and burnt it on a dvd as the format I downloaded it as which was AVI. I recently downloaded another bunch of videos which were in the format as Windows media video clips. I THINK I changed the file type to AVI but they still will not work in my regualr DVD player like the first one did. The extension and the icon and the file type all 'appeared to have changed' but everyone on here keeps saying that you need a program to convert the files to another type. So my question is, did I change them? And if so then why don’t they work in my DVD player? And if not they why in the file properties does it say AVI as the type of file? I also tried them as MPEG-2 and they still wont play? Please Help me!!!!!!

Roguetrooperuk Guest | I use Nero 6 to convert .avi movies to dvd files then burn to blank dvd -r, a 800mb movies can take up to 3 hours to convert/burn to dvd. I use 'create dvd movie' in Nero 6 btw and download all codecs for divx and use acs-dvd encoder to boost audio. Works fine for me, although can take a while to convert for standard dvd player.
Hope that helps!

ezra Guest | If you want to convert your AVI/DivX/XVid files so you can watch them on your standard DVD player, there is a freeware program called Avi2Dvd that might help...(google it)
basically it will create an ISO image, which you then burn to a DVD, which should then work in your player

Shadows Guest | OK unlike alot of these posts ive actually read through to see if my question has been previously answered. Im lookin to get a divX certified dvd plaer so that I can just burn my video files as regular data files. Someone said earlier that by getting a divX certified player you could just burn avi files as regular data on a dvd-r and they would still play on the dvd player. I just want to confirm that this is true because alot of ppl are still askin questions about conversion and stuff. So quite simply if i get a divX certified player i can play avi files burned on a regular dvd-r ? yes or no ?
Thnx in advance.

Bassman Guest | For goodness sake, READ THE THREAD before posting your questions. (not directed at anyone in particular)
To convert avi etc to DVD go to http://www.trustfm.net/divx/SoftwareAvi2Dvd.html
and download Avi2DVD.
The description:
About : Avi2Dvd is an All In One tool in order to convert with just few clicks an Avi/Ogm/Mkv/Wmv/Dvd to Dvd/Svcd/Vcd.
Supports multiple audiostreams and up to three subtitles. From the version 0.3.4 and later can support DV-AVI videos, so it can handle captured avi’s from digital videocameras. Avi2dvd can also produce semi professional dvd menus with chapter/audio/subtitles buttons with extreme facility !
This utility is 100% freeware and uses only freeware software.
As you can see it’s 100% free, and will do what 90% of the posts in this thread are asking.
I bet there will still be posts asking what to use though
