Duner Guest | I can use Nero 7s movie creation section to make a DVD that I can play on my DVD player. However, I have to make my own menus and appear to lose the second audio track. How do I retain the existing menu and audio tracks. The conversion is from avi files downloaded using azureus.

BurninMan Guest | Standard DVD players read the .Vob format, the files you have now are in AVI format..
I suggest you download Cucusoft AVI/MPEG to DVD Converter, or ConvertXtoDVD
- I recommend the first.
It will convert your video files to the dvd format readable by all standard dvd players, then burn automatically to DVD!
it is easy to use, fast and it works! give it a try, you’ll love it
1. Download AVI/MPEG to DVD Converter here:
http://www.burner-software.com/AVI-to-DVD-Converter/MPEG-AVI-to-DVD-VCD-Converter.html
It can convert any video file.. like wmv, mpeg, asf, avi to dvd
2. Add or drag-n-drop as many video files as the DVD can handle
3. Insert blank DVD
4. Click “Convert & Burn”
5. Enjoy watching those video files on your home DVD player! =)

fezelj Guest | Just buy a DIVX compatible dvd player (LG make lots of them and the three I have owned are faultless) It should not cost more than $60 Australian dollars from Tandy/Dick Smith (Australia) Then there is no need to waste time converting anything. These players will play anytrhing you throw at them. Remeber that many .avi files were originally DVD rips so to convert back to VOB format would be redundant.

I don’t mean i want to convert them. i want to burn them STRAIGHT to dvd so that they won’t take up as much space on dvds so i can fit almost 20 episodes onto a single disc and watch them on a dvd player. please don’t tell me how to convert and then burn because i know how to do that. i’m just curious on how to burn avi files so that my dvd can read them.

BayouChris Guest | Okay, downloaded some movies via internet in .avi format and stored them in my system. I’ve opened these movies and acutally watched a couple on the computer. I Purchased Memorex DVD+R 16X, 4.7gb, 120min CD to burn the movies too. Using Win Vista Media player, I moved a 1 hr, 10min movie to the burn list and it said I still had 4.3gb left on the cd?? So not understanding what the heck this meant, I proceeded to burn the movie as a dvd movie from the drop down box under “burn”. When the cd was done, I placed it into my XBOX and it didn’t register. I placed it in another home PC (WinXP) and it locked up my system. I tried it on my PC at the office (WinXP) and again it just idled and never even lauch a single window. So here’s the question, I want to be able to burn the downloaded movies to cds and be able to watch them on a home dvd player or XBOX, how in the heck do I do this using the tools I have? I’m technology impared, and need help.

tjb Guest | I have an LG dvd player - burn the avi files as 'data' to a dvd - they should then be playable by a divx/xvid compatible player

My files are not avi they are rar, i cant burn directly to DVD, it does not work. i need a converter that will convert the rar files to a DVD (watchable) format... do i need to use a converter to convert the rar files into avi first? im new to this so have no clue. thanks x
A .rar File is basically a .zip file, just diffrent -Don’t ask why, I dunno- I use WinRar to extract them, I think you can get it as a free download from here http://www.downloadzfree.com/winrar/1/index.asp?s=gous&a=winrar&kw=winrar . It will then unpack it to whatever file type it is. If it’s .avi, then you will need to convert it to DVD format, with a free trial download from http://www.xilisoft.com/avi-to-dvd-converter.html . I use power2go, but Nero will do the job too, just add/drag it onto the window, then just click burn. It should work on any DVD player.
Hope that helps =]
