BobbyC Guest | If you want your avi file on cdr, first convert it to vcd or svcd not dvd as you are doing in winavi...beware most 700mb avi files will need 2xcdr discs

Andyboy Guest | I had problems for months trying to convert burn etc etc, i used like 25 DVDs with no luck.
Finally though, i’m sorted now. Just get a decent program and convert AVI to DVD format and burn, and that’s you, should work on your DVD players etc.
Can someone tell me some programs that i cna use to make a menu at the start of my dvds???
Thanks! | |

SaborDeVida Guest | OK, I have read almost every post on this site and I am still having trouble burning a CD to play on my DVD Player.
I have a DVD player that supports DivX along with SVCD, VCD, etc. I have .avi files that I have been trying just to burn onto a 700Mb CD, since it would seem that the player should be able to read them, but when I go to play them the player always says “DivX Error," so I am stuck.
I read once that the filename has to be a certain number of letters in order to be read correctly, but now I can’t find the post that said how many it had to be. Could this be the issue?
I also read that I might need to do something to the files to convert them to be read on my player, with WinAVI. I have WinAVI and I have tried to convert them to SVCD and VOB but both times unsucessfully, because then when I go to burn them using Ashampoo, it says they are “not formatted correctly for SVCD / VCD." I don’t know if it is a bitrate issue, or a format issue, or what.
In WinAVI, in order to convert the avi files I have to one that my player supports, what do I have to set?
If anyone can tell me how to get my avi files onto CD so I can play them with my DivX compatible DVD player, it would be greatly appreciated.

rite 4 a start forget trying 2 burn as vcd or svcd the quality is crap and most times on dvd players they wont work so here goes an avi file will need 2 be converted so 1st convert them with winavi take no notice of wot winavi says if it plays on any meadia player u have installed then it should convert succesfully then d/l a program called dvd shrink its a freeware prog so just google it and u should find it rite when u have converted the avi file through winavi open up dvd shrink and open a new file then navagate 2 where winavi converted the movie 2 then add the files then just click backup and the process will start if u have nero preinstalled when winavi is finished it will automatically burn the movie onto disc and then the movie will be able 2 be played on almost any dvd player hope this helps because the process is very straight forward really
