I want to try making an AMV... but all the videos I have can’t be imported onto my Windows Movie Maker (T_T) it always says: “The file .rmvb is not a supported file type, and it cannot be imported into Windows Movie Maker." Or that the proper codecs needed aren’t installed.
I... really don’t know any computer terms. They seriously confuse me, but I’ve tried going with some of the advice posted here. I’ve tried Real Alt. but it still didn’t work.
Maybe I’m doing something wrong? Ugh... I don’t know anymore. I’ve been trying for months, but something always goes wrong.
I’m beginning to think that there’s some kind of special force out there that doesn’t want me to make this AMV. T_TT

Jaggid1x Guest | Download K-Lite Codecand install. If you’re using Media Player Classic, that codec should do the trick. And if it doesn’t, you have to mess around w/ your settings until it does.
But it’ll most likely work from the start.

katie999 Guest | LIKE MANY PEOPLE HERE, I SPENT COUNTLESS HOURS TRYING TO CONVERT MY RMVB TO A FORMAT THAT I CAN PLAY ON MY DVD PLAYER. INITIALLY I GOT THE 'CAN’T READ' OR 'NON-SUPPORTED' ERRORS. I FINALLY FOUND THE SOLUTION AND HOPE THIS HELPS.
1. IF THE FILES ARE IN FOREIGN LANGUAGE, MAKE SURE THE FILE NAME & ALL FOLDER NAMES ARE IN ENGLISH ALPHABET/NUMBERS WITH NO WEIRD CHARACTERS.
2. *DO NOT* USE REAL ALTERNATIVE. IT DOESN’T WORK. THE REAL MEDIA PLAYER IS THE ONLY ONE THAT WORKS. THE FREE VERSION WILL DO. JUST NO MATTER WHAT, THE REAL ALTERNATIVE JUST DOESN’T CUT IT. YOU’LL GET THE ERROR MESSAGES IF YOU USE REAL ALTERNATIVE.
3. I TRIED A NUMBER OF CONVERTERS. SO FAR THE ULTRA RM CONVERTER SEEM TO WORK BEST.
HOPEFULLY THIS SOLVES MOST OF THE ISSUES POPPING UP HERE.

katie999 Guest | SUPER is useless if you get the 'can’t read file' message with other softwares. Sothink, EO Video, and Allok softwares doesn’t work either. So IF YOU WANT TO CONVERT RMVB THEN FOLLOW INSTRUCTIONS ABOVE. OTHERWISE YOUR FILES MAY INDEED BE CORRUPTED.
