boaby Guest | hey guys im having serious issue with audio. With certain video filetypes, the audio that accompanies the vid comes out EXTREMELY LOUD and distorted. It mainly happens with .wmv’s (streamed and saved) and .ogg’s. Files like .mp3 .mpg .avi .mov seem to be unaffected.
Now like what most of you are probably thinking now, i too thought it was codec issue. So i got the latest .wmv codec (WM9 i think it was called) from the MS website but no joy. I can’t remember why now but I also tried FFDSHOW, again no joy.
If anyone has any tips/advice on how to resolve it’d be greatly appreciated coz this is killing my pc use.
Is there any way to strip/delete the existing codec off my machine so I can try diff codecs one by one instead off installing new ones over old the ones?
TIA for any help.

Marcus Aurelius Guest | Open your file with GSpot or Avicodec and find out what audio codecs you may need.AC3 filter is a must and all from above can be found here:http://www.free-codecs.com/

boaby Guest | yeah i have gspot and a few other apps such as sherlock and dccheck, and the codecs they recommend, and the prob persists.
I uninstalled fddshow and that helped a little - .wmv’s that i have saved now play as they should.
But ill tell u what the main offender is - .wmv’s that are streamed.
For example http://www.big-boys.com/articles/texasshootout.html
big-boys is a site i visit alot coz its funny but on this comp the vids r impossible to watch with sound as it comes out awfully bad as mentioned.
Is there a different codec used for .wmv’s that are streamed such as this?
Totally confused - any more advice?

Marcus Aurelius Guest | Try to play the file with VLC Videolan, download it from free codecs.
