backing up raw video files

Hi.
I have a Canon GL2 vid cam. I have captured files using Pinacle Studio 8 and I wish to put them on disc for future use in assembling projects.
I have Nero.
I simply want to burn my captured video files onto dvd+r using Nero. I should be able to burn these straight to dvd+r disc and then use them, right?
