Hi Steve. That’s an odd way round for that issue, usualy things don’t RW instead.
Just some quick suggestions. . . .
First, make sure your writer *software* 'likes' your writer. Has it worked before, or is it a new writer?
WThee most compatible software i have found so far, is NERO v6.6.0.8 (older version now). It’s not failed on any i have used so far.
Can your writer 'use' that type of disc? Does it say on the box it can handle them? it’s even possible it’s not supposed to handle DVD+ discs, but happens to like theone you have used. Yep, it really does happen.
You can use software called NERO INFOTOOL (free small utility of the net) to tell you what your drive is capable of - it’s the most accurate way of knowing so far (no software like that is perfect tho, yet).
Just as a different test, make a working film, onto your DVD+RW, then do a DVD COPY - disc-to-disc, onto your DVD+R disc, and see if it plays then. If it does, it’s most likely your writer software being fussy when it writes (see later in this message).
Your LITE-ON drive should be fine with all discs tho, it’s a very good make, so i reckon, it’s just that it don’t like your blanks
Personally, i always write films a RW disc 1st, to verify its all OK, and then copy that to non-RW discs - that saves me making lots of semi-useless coasters
One last point - try telling it to write at a slower speed to your blanks, although many drives now say they can except 16x writes, they sometimes do NOT. I use 8x max on all DVD+R discs. The reason you don’t get that problemwith DVD+RW is cos it’s speed is 'already' locked slow (usualy 4x).
Hope that happens to help in some way. Just a few ideas, sorry i can’t give an instant repair. Good Luck.
