mplayer help needed!

Hello, I have just spent the last two hours of my life unsuccesfully attempting to get mplayer to work in Windows. I am fairly computer savvy, but for the most part, the guides seem to be written for Linux users, an OS I know next to nothing about. The documentation written for Windows users was completely unhelpful. It is found here:
