http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/format/codecdownload.aspx
Also, open TMPGEnc and go to Option>Environmental setting>VFAPI plug-in and give 'DirectShow Multimedia File Reader' a priority of 4.

Mutsy Guest | use WinAVI converter, its by far the fastest converter around and works with every format to every format provided you can play the file in windows media player (you need to have the right codecs) download a trial version then go to asta-la-vista.com and search for a serial number, theres one for 'alastair dalrymple' that works and gives you full access to all the programs features.
Happy Converting!

Solution: ffmpegX
Price: $Free
Mac Users:
All you need is ffmpegX, which you can download from: http://homepage.mac.com/major4/
Windows Users:
Download ffmpeg. Do a google search for it.
Read the howto’s for info on converting different codecs. But it is relatively easy.
I have looked and looked for a simple way to convert WMV to MOV, DivX or other formats and this is the best way.
Good luck!

Barrie Becker Guest | Dear Ultima 160:
I did everything you said. It seemed like it was working, but every time I pressed “encode”, it produced a file with 0 kb.
I tried converting .wmv to several types of .mov or .mpg.
Any tips? What am I doing wrong?
