Nero is able to play AVI file but I need to install the right codec.
I did let ACE CoDec Mega Pack 6.03 to install the right codec for me, and using GSpot I found out that the installed codec was:
MainConcept DV Codec 2.0.4 ( MCDVD_32.DLL )
I did an entire program based on the MCI library provided by Microsoft.
And today I discovered that that codec is only able to play movies smaller than 4-6 minutes !!
Question:
does somebody know a good, stable and reliable free codec that is not having this limitation ?
I need one that is able to play the AVI files created by Adobe Premiere when creating a movie and when loaing a movie from my Sony videocamera.
The codecs that Adobe Premiere uses looks great. Is there a way to 'install' that one in the OS ?
Thanks in advance for any answer,
Marcello

Marcello Guest | Well,
I discovered that if I just process the file with Adobe Premiere, then the problem disappears.
So it looks like the MCI library doens’t cope well with certain formats, that’s all.
Thanks for all the answers !

Marcello Guest | mmmh.
After processing the file with Adobe Premiere, the MCI library is able to play the movie up to 16980 frames ( 00:09:26:16 ), instead than only 8457 frames ( 00:04:42:05 ) as it was doing before.
This is bad. The only explanation I have, with all the research I did on this, is that it is intentional. I hope not!
