I’m assuming the video file is either an AVI or MPEG format? If so, one way is to use VirtualDubMod to extract the audio from the video and save it as a WAV. VirtualDubMod is free; just Google for it.
1. Load/open the video file with VDubMod.
2. Go to “Streams” and select “Stream list”.
3. Make sure your audio stream is highlighted (in gray).
4. Click on “Save WAV” in the menu on the right. Name your WAV whatever you want and click on SAVE.
5. And voila! It’s saved. Just play it to be sure everything is kosher with it.
Then, you can use any audio-editing software (like Goldwave or Sound Forge) to convert the WAV to an MP3.
If this seems too advanced or tedious for you, then I’m sure others will come forward with their suggestions, so sit tight.
