burning downloaded movies w/ nero issues

I have a few downloaded movies, I also have nero 6 SE, when I go to add the files, after converting them with winavi, and try to burn the movie I get an error message telling me that I need DVD-R/RW and DVD-R/DL, I have DVD-R and DVD+R blank DVDs, I know that nero should be able to copy to them however I always get a message saying that it can’t. Is there a setting that I need to change somewhere? Or am I doing something else wrong. If any one can help it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
