Go online and google AutoGK and you will be able to convert the vob files to avi very easily, just follow the online guide. The only thing is that you might have to rip the dvd again since it wants the vob a certain way, to rip the dvd just google dvd decrypter and download it.

Easy: Use DVD movie factory by Ulead. Don’t let people complicate things.

Downloaded DVD Dcrypter and Auto GK and it worked subperbly.

But Be warned People it takes an age to convert the VOB to AVI sad

But what the hell it was worth waiting for superb quality and sound smiley

hi, please install a WinAVI Video Converter to do this job. Not only can this program do this job wonderfully, but also it only needs around 60 minutes to finish the job while with stunny video and audio quality.

I’m a dvd burning novice.

I tried to burn several scenes from a commerical movie (dvd) on my iMac G5 superdrive. I was able to play the burned video on my Mac, but the dvd would not work in my home dvd player. At home, the player could not (load) recognize the dvd.

On my Mac the video cuts copied as .VOB files. Can I convert these files to some other format that will play on my home dvd player?

DVD authoring is a pretty complex subject. For starters you can go here
http://www.aidinc.com/features/dvdfaq.asp
or here
http://www.vcdhelp.com (I think they redesigned their site, so finding info may be a bit difficult, but they have LOTS of resources)

you can use nero to burn the vob files to dvd - all you have to make sure of that you select dvd video and put all of the files in the video_ts folder. Then burn.

I tried all that and an error came up.

MPEG1 streams not currently supported.

Any thoughts?

I am a true novice and have read the infomration posted by various persons but not sure what exactly to download. When I search google for dvd decrypter it gives me lots of choices. Which choice do I choose. I am trying to take a home move that has been copied to a DVD with a DVD writer onto a DVD+R. When I try to run AutoGK it tells me it can’t read the file so I am trying to follow the directions to rip the DVD using dvd decrypter but do not understand the choices of downloads. Please give more information.
Thanks

I finally got the file converted but the sound did not convert with the video. I followed the instructions that is provided by the software. What do I have to do to get the sound in the avi file. The ripped VOB file has sound but not the AVI that it converts to.

generally anything demux-ing VOB files down to their components are going to end up with two components: an MPEG movie (or AVI, or Divx, whatever youve selected to output) and an AC3 file. the movie wont have any audio, that’s what’s in the AC3 file. you’ll need to convert the Dolby AC3 info into AIFF format using something like mAC3dec and then edit the sound back against the picture in something like FinalCut Pro and then output new all-inclusive MPEGs for further conversion back into VOB for DV burning or whatever... so far the coolest tools ive found are OSEx, MacMPEG2Decoder, so far i’m hip to the encoding process, but like others here I have yet to find a cool MPEG-to-VOB converter or a simple authoring tool that will run on my OSX 10.1 machine. i also need help updating the OS on my machine up to 10.2.8 if anyone’s willing to chip in: blue G3/300 currently 10.1 - installer update wont recognize any drives to install to... so im stuck.

I have Ulead Video Studio. I have been able to capture video from a VHS to Video Studio so I now have a digital file but cannot figure out how to now save it as an avi file. Any help out there? Can’t find info in the packaged instruction. I can create all kinds of movies but then need to format for AVI for my website. Please give instructions on how to if you know.
