katie Guest | i’ve tried to play a short movie that i downloaded and keep getting this error message. it is a .mp4 extension. is there any way to fix this and see the movie? thanks

fredley Guest | Check it out here, you can download a codec for your media player with the link on that page because that worked for me, or try converting it to a .mov file (but thats never worked for me)

Harv Guest | I downloaded and unzipped a .mp4 file, but couldn’t get it to open. When I read your fix for quictime error 8971 I would like to try your solution, but don’t know what to do. Please spell out what I can do.I don’t know what “download a codec for your media player” means. I’m such a novice on this iMac G4 that I wonder if Quicktime is my “media player”.
