capture help!

I have a Sony dcr-trv20 the camera has seen some better days but I don’t think wear and tear is the case here. I just got a new HP computer and fire wire I was able to capture one clip then the computer doesn’t recognize the camera is connected. The camera says DV in but nothing registers in the computer. Is there something I’m doing wrong?

Should it say DV out? I’ve edited with this camcorder before and never had any problems.
