How to make srt/sub files

Hi there. I was wondering..... Using a notepad to make subtitles is very interesting and does anyone of you know how to make double subtitles? What I mean is, let say there are two characters talking at the same time in the movie and we want to make 1 subtitle appear below the screen and the other one appear above or maybe even side by side for example. So, can notepad do that? If it can, please show me how to do it. Thank you! reply

Thank you Kruizer.
Giving Instructions are a bit meaningless if they don’t understand the point[goal] of every step.

Hello . . . Sometimes there is a code placed in a .srt file;

<i>Do you recognize my voice?</i>

What does this <i> means ? and is there a code table voor .srt?
I couldn’t find it on the internet. (or lac of a proper tag;)

Hi, i came here to know more but after reading all that I felt that I already know that, actually a little bit more. :-)

By the way <i> </i> is a html tag. The characters between the two 'll be italic. And there two other common ones: <b> </b> for bold and <u> </u> underline. :-) reply

To Link Them To Your Video , Rename The Notepad File To “YourVideoTitle.srt” , Also Remember That Not All Video Formats Support Subtitles. A Format That Can Support Subs : .mpg

For me, the best way to make SRT titles is through Subtitle Workshop on my Windows os.

This programs have all the options I need to make subtitles look perfect and timed. I also recommend it to anyone who trying to create subtitles for their own videos.

Here is a neat tutorial about the basic options of the Subtitle Workshop app:

I have an issue with 2 people talking over each other; lets call them Male-1 and Female-2.
I am using notepad to edit the .srt file and almost finished.

because Female 2 interrupts the male during his lines, I have them overlap:
-
5

00:37:56.000 --> 00:37:58.300

Male 1: Well with your-

6

00:37:57.000 --> 00:37:59.800

Female 2: I’m here driver!

-
But it shows the girl’s line above the boy’s
like this in the video:

[Female 2:I’m here driver!]
[Male 1: Well with your- ]

I want it to be under his like this

[Male 1: Well, with your- ]
[Female 2:I’m here driver!]

Because they keep talking at the same time for a while;
Male 1 starts talking but keeps getting interrupted constantly and is not finishing a sentence.
I tried using a subsection number of “5.5” and 5.a method to get it to show up below the first since the girl has the main lines and the boy isn’t saying anything too important. Is there a way to do this?

This is not too important because Male 1 will yell what he was trying to say after that bit anyway and I am pretty much finished. But I prefer to know this in the future so any suggestions? reply
