bijoybk Guest | Playing it on VLS is very simple. What you have to do is . Copy the srt file and media file in same folder. srt file name should be the same as file name.'en'( for English)
Eg: movie.fly
srt name should be movie.en.srt for English subtitle.

Emilia Guest | Hello,
I have the same problem as “frustrated”; the subtitles option on VCL comes out gray and I can’t enable it.
However, and this is what I just can’t figure out, with some chapters of the series it works, and it opens both the .avi and .srt files... so???? The files are all fine, I already tried opening them on a PC and they work.
Any ideas of why I can’t play the subtitles?

running .avi and .srt files through vlc. placed in same folder and both are playing. however, the synch on the subs is off by 12 seconds.

DuneAlia Guest | I have a pc. I have torrent files in on file and then 11 .srt in a .zip file (1 per episode). I have to use a program for the torrents and I already have that (I use LimeWire) but I don’t know what to do with .srt.
Also, any clue what to do with .ass files? No, that has nothing to do with the above. Just thought I’d ask since that is also getting popular now.

sexylatinachica Guest | Everyone! Good grief, it’s sad to find such a forum where no one really has any decent answers. To play srt files with vlc media player, the name of the srt file MUST BE THE SAME AS THE AVI FILE! That’s it! Tada! So damn hard wasn’t it? Hope it helps some of you sad ppls.

CrowdedCranium Guest | Thanks for the tip:
to display the subtitles download Directvobsub and install, it will automatically load the srt file into you player when you view your movie file.
http://www.free-codecs.com/download/DirectVobSub.htm
I had a two part idea, I want to edit the .srt subtitle file to work over some crapy spelling and odd syntax. Then with the modified .srt subtitle run up a DVD with Nero9.
I have not worked with subtitles before. And have no clue where to start. But, I suppose if worse comes to worst cases I can hard code the subtitles and burn that output to a DVD with Nero.

VLC Player is a cross platform application with a mac version available for download from the VLC website.
MPlayer has a simpler interface but fewer features. It is available from the MPlayer website.
Any remaining AVIs not compatible with the above two, should be able to be handled by Mac OS 9 QuickTime or QuickTime for Windows, each of which have the older versions of the Intel Indeo codec. --- 1. Copy DVD to ISO Image,DVD Disc,DVD Folder,Player Media(directly play on Apple DVD Player) on Mac
— -
2. Burn AVI,FLV,MOV,MOD,MKV,M4V,MPEG,VOB,3GP,HD,TS...to DVD on Mac
