If you are reading this and you are still having this problem, I recommend FormatFactory. You can read about it at my blog.

It should be the newest article from Feb.

Hi I’m encountering a slightly different problem.

I’m trying to mix a few clips from several videos AND have them converted to smaller files. So what I did to convert was using windows movie maker which gave me very decent quality and very low MBs.

Although when I tried to edit these clips I couldn’t do it decently because WMM is just CRAP at doing this and my other movie editor just can’t open this.

I tried editing before converting but it’s no use trying to edit 4gig while it can be 150MB..

Any tips?

omg, stop whine about everything and try google it for once. I’m sure it’s plenty of information about how you compress a video file......
Just look at this, one search and google and BANG!

use vdub to save the file with no compression and then import it into moviemaker or just use vdub to do it

The video size recorded with FRAPS can be very large — — 2 minutes video needs about 3 gig space. So you should find a hard disc with enough spare space firstly. — — -and then download this software~Windows Media Encoder.

Then you can decode the big file into very small size file.

Yeah i have the same problem and everywhere i look there doesn’t really seem to be anyone that knows what to do about it and the fraps site don’t answer my e mails so i really don’t know what to do. there is either something wrong with the application because i jhave tried to reinstall it many times already but that isn’t really helping and i am starting to think that maybe it’s just because there is some kind of codec override or something. I have no idea really but it’s annoying
