I wouldn’t mess with the registry, especially with DirectShow stuff. This may sound like a roundabout way to do things, but I think it’s safer. Download Elecard’s decoder, install it, then uninstall it. I hope it works!

Thanks for the responses. But, the Elecard codec doesn’t appear in my Add/Remove programs menu; could I erase it directly from the registry?

I’m assuming that deleting it won’t harm the reproduction of mpeg-2 files.

Pstraight I’m Justin, just that the forum didn’t accept my nickname, thus I had to post with a diff one :/

The elecard decoder is for mpeg-2 decoding. You (or someone else) may have it installed somewhere on your system. To get rid of the popup, you’d have to pay (haha just kidding) or simply uninstall it using add/remove programs. The reason media player classic doesn’t have the popup is (as the person above said) because it has its own mpeg-2 decoder, and doesn’t rely on an outside one.

Hello all and thanks in advance for taking the time to help me.

Nowadays that I turn my BSPlayer on and open a VOB or a MPG/MPEG file, I get a strange message entitled: “The dancing elecard logo means that your evaluation period has expired. Please register your player. More info at -some website-."

I don’t know what could be happening there, since I’ve not downloaded any MPEG trial whatsoever.

I’ve deleted BSPlayer, installing it again, older versions, etc, and continues to happen.

Strangely, it doesn’t seem to happen in MPlayer classic.

Again, thank you for your time.
