gtabmx wrote: Hey, I solved the problem on my PC. Baisically I was getting the error message for this AVI video, but it was really encoded in Divx. You guys should really check if the same goes for you. Try opening a file that you KNOW is AVI, not just because it ends in ".avi”. This is a common mistake. Second, in order to be able to open and edited video encoded in Divx or Xvid or something else, you need their codecs, preferably the latest. You can get a nice codec pack with many codecs that you might need here at http://www.filehippo.com/download_klite_codec_pack.html which is a trusted site that I update almost all my software everyday from (www.filehippo.com). Or you can get the Divx only codecs called Theorica Divx that sum dude posted. Or you can get the latest Ace Mega 6 Codec pack at http://www.free-codecs.com/download/ACE_Mega_CoDecS_Pack.htm. Speaking of this site, www.free-codecs.com should have all the codecs, video or sound and such, that you’ll ever need. Bottom line, you need the latest codecs and you must make sure whether the file is truely AVI or is it just looks AVI.

God knows I’ve tried almost EVERY suggestion I could find to fix the errors with importing AVI files into WMM. Downloading the K-Lite Codec Pack actually fixed that! Thanks for posting the link :D
(I bet this is probably a necro or something, but srry I just had to say thanks :3)

I know this is too late, but dont worry guys. Here is the link to solve your problems. “http://download.cnet.com/1770-20_4-0.html?query=AVI+Codec+Pack&searchtype=downloads” and download
“AVI Codec Pack Pro 2.4”
And open again the Movie Maker.

I had a problem importing an AVI into WMM. After reading many pages without success was told to try downloading DivX7 by a friend from http://www.divx.com/en/products/software/windows/divx ... I can now import AVI into WMM. Not sure if this fix has been mentioned before but it worked for me.

My WMM keeps importing my precious videos as audio only, and when I go to play them it will play the audio but what is supposed to be video is just a black screen. what am i doing wrong?
