Yeah, I’ve experienced the problem myself, altrough I’m not using the Windows Movie Maker, since they dont support any .AVI files, and just converts them to song files, which really.. really, blows. And it’s pretty weird that it works without any issues to play in Windows Media Player, anyways my suggestion to you, would be to use the, Adobe Premiere Pro, to make videos, since their supporting the .AVI files, but, since fraps using their own codec, the picture will maybe get pretty messed up though.. But works better than the crapy 'ol Windows Movie Maker. Anyways I do search a .AVI converter, so I can convert them, too MPEG, WMW, and such.. But have not find anyone that can do that yet.. Well, hope it all works out for you there, buddy! Bye smiley

Yeah, fraps has its own codec (which uses the fourcc FPS1), so you do need it installed on other PC’s if you want them to view the (original) videos.

I’m surprised Windows Media Player can play the file, but Windows Movie Maker can’t read it (on the same PC).
What exact error message are you getting from VirtualDub? Also, what are the dimensions of the videos you’re producing in fraps?

Hey Codec-guys.

Im sitting on a windows Vista 64bit PC.
Im playing a game called Age of Conan and i recorded some stuff with Fraps, so its .avi.
The videos plays fine with windows media player

When i put in the files to Windows Movie maker it can only handle them as an audio file, and put em in the audio track.

I tried converting them with VirtualDUB and a various of other converters such as Magic Converter and alot more, but all converters gives me different errors that it cannot convert. such as the file is curropted and stuff.
I tried with many of the videos i recorded and i dont understand..... the settings in fraps are default so it sould work as a normal .avi file right? I have installed K lite Mega Pack and DivxCodecs.....

When i transfer the files to my Laptop wich is running windows XP prof, it cannot view the files even if it also has the divx and K lite mega pack.
It just shows a black screen with the sound playing in the background.

I also tried not recording the sound with fraps...
same results

EDIT: OK! Now i installed fraps on the laptop and
its now working fine! i guess Fraps has its own
codec..... but Windows Movie maker STIL handles
them as Audio files... and i still cant convert sad
