This thread is rather old, so it’s not up-to-date at all anymore.
I updated another thread here http://www.moviecodec.com/topics/12191p1.html which should have more current info.

I’m making a more general post because a lot of people are asking about this and they’re appending to threads (threadomancing) instead of starting new ones.

Playing SEDG files on PC (Windows Media Player)
If you’re on a PC and you just want to play files with fourcc SEDG get the decoder here.
The decoder is DirectShow (will play in Windows Media Player), but only the encoder is VfW (Video for Windows) - meaning you can encode into SEDG in VirtualDub (from a non-SEDG source), but not edit SEDG videos (cut, merge, etc.)

Editing SEDG files on PC
The old way of overcoming this was by changing fourcc to some other flavor of MPEG-4 (XVID, DIVX, DX50 have worked for some people). Now there’s a better way to edit in VirtualDub. Download 3ivx, and you’ll be able to both decode and encode in SEDG.

Playing SEDG files on Mac
For Mac users, you can use 3ivx as well to decode in QuickTime.

PS: SEDG=Samsung MPEG-4 (Part 2)
