Thank you anonymous. It worked! You’ve restored my faith in the helpfulness and intelligence of boards.

Ligos sells the latest version (5.2) of the Indeo codec for 15 dollars on their site, but you can find the (free) older versions throughout the net. Just google for iv5setup.exe or iv5play.exe.
Here’s some hits.
http://www.emmicroelectronic.com/webfiles/Video/
http://www.mrs.umn.edu/~joos/personal/game/MILO/
http://www.bdtinc.com/pub/software/Codecs/
If all the links suddenly die just re-google.

Note: In 9 out of 10 cases an old version of Indeo will work just fine, but we did have one case where someone who posted on our board couldn’t get their game to work because it specifically required version 5.2 of the Indeo codec (also called Indeo XP). Note that on Windows XP, Ligos only gives support for questions for version 5.2.

Trying to reinstall (after hard disk reformating) dell-supplied MGI videowave 4.0. Can’t get it running because I am missing the appropriate indeo codec. Have spent seven hours with dell support and downloaded a dozen or so software items. None of them worked. This site is the last one recommended by dell. Can anyone tell me which of the available downloads is the appropriate one?
Many thanks for your help.
