You can install the codec as described at apple.com but you’ll have to run the Quicktime player in classic mode. I think it’s better to have your friend buy a newer camera or use better compression.

This is described on the apple web site here

It will work if you reboot into Mac OS 9 (Classic). (I don’t know much about Macs - is this option available to all OS X users, or is it only available if you upgraded from OS 9 to OS X?)
Hi all,
I’m looking for the IV50 codec for mac.
Does it exist?
My friend has a logitech webcam and I can’t open his footage cause it has the IV50 compression.
Is there any other way to fix this problem?
Cheers,
CJ
