Hi everyone! I need the real alternative for mac, is there such? Because I have the same problem with my VLC saying that it needs the RV40 codec. ![]()
Thanks a lot! Problem solved
k-lite mega pack will solve the problem
Hey Y’all, As everyone has said you can download the Real Alt and it will play those .mkv files that seem to never work, but if you just right click on the file and say open with media player classic it’s not going to work. You have to go onto the media player click on Open File then find the video you want and TA DA. It should work perfectly and for the person who couldnt see the subs try and see if theres a secondary audio most .mkv’s have a secondary audio on them. Also, for everyone who doesn’t know where to get it: http://www.pcworld.hu/download/video/realalt160.exe. go there its automatically going to download but rest easy, it is the actually program i just got it my self
well i hope that helps.
I have realplayer gold & AVS Video converter and neither one will download videos off of youtube. At one time they use to work and now their not working. What’s up?
indeed, i too downloaded real alt to play my .mkv file but it says unable to render file even tho theres rv40.dlll in the codec
Hi All
Same problem over here: VLC Player complained about the missing RV40 codec and only played the sound. Real Alternative (in Media Player Classic) plays Picture and Sound (Multi-Lang.) BUT doesn’t show the SUBs!

I downloaded the Real Alt and it still won’t play RV40 Files

and i kept searching for it but no way it wont come seriously that is annoying
RV40 can be either Real Video 9 or Real Video 10 (they apparently use the same fourcc; interestingly, Real Player can tell them apart though).
Real Alternative or Real Player should work.
