With this method, you dont need any video codec. Just convert dvd (mpeg2 svcd/dvd) to .WMV with some tool called Best video converter and you will play dvd on windows media player normally...

you can play dvd videos in WMP11, but you should buy a motherboard that supports all...

media player classic, a free download, solved all my problems and all my netflix dvd’s play now.

Ican’t play a dvd on my laptop when the other dvd’s play. I hear the sound but no image/picture. What is wrong if I have no problems with the other dvds that I play on my laptop

This is ridiculous... why in hell would windows not furnish a media player that reads DVDs ? Are they living in the stone age or trying to sell every stupid functionality of a software ? Download codecs to read DVDs on my computer ? No.

Do Mac users have to live with this kind of nonesense... no.

Anyhow, my next computer will be a Mac... in the meantime, I’m using the VLC player (downloadable freely).

thanks I had the same problem and downloded on http://www.free-codecs.com/DivX_download.htm and works fine

I have downloaded and installed it, it can play but no voice to hear,,, How could i fix it?
