Many thanks.
if your dvd supports divx ( would have a divx logo on the front of it ) then just burn it as a data disk to a cd if your dvd player does not support divx then you will need a program like ConvertXtoDVD (which is what i use) to convert it to avi (mpeg-2 i think) that will work on all stand alone dvd players ( it takes about 40 to 50 minutes to encode it and since i burn them at a slower speed about 14 to 20 to burn them
hope this helps

A) Look on the box or manual, to see if it supports the codecs used within the video.
__A1) To see what codecs are used, use GSpot or MediaInfo to get the information about the codecs.
B) Burn the file to disc (CD or DVD) and try and play it with your DVD player.
If neither works, then your DVD player does not support the .avi container or the codecs used for the video within the container.
NOTE: 80% of the movies you’ll find online illegally are using the .xvid video codec and .mp3 for the audio codec.
