External?

In principle a USB port on a laptop is exactly like a USB port on a normal PC. So mice, keyboards, usb memory etc can be connected. Not all laptops has serial/com port though. Most laptops have a vga-out which allows connecting a normal monitor/lcd.

Pretty much all laptops accept:

Memory: SODIMM type

Harddisc: Small laptop drives

Laptop that accepts full size PC hardware? No does not exist and probably never will - it would be too big.

There has been some talk about making laptops with a special pci-express interface allowing replacement of pci-express graphics card - but it would not be compatible with normal PC pci-express cards (too big and makes too much heat and uses far too much power)
