mp4

My windows media player window vista ed. won’t play mp4 format what do i need to install to make this happen i have divx player and it does fine but i was wondering if there was anything i could add to make windows play

“official” player: QuickTime Player. Rather slow and unwieldy.

preferred player: VLC Media Player. Free, open-source, and clean (doesn’t install junk, and when uninstalled, leaves no residues).

If you must play it in Windows Media Player: ffdshow-tryouts (video and audio decoders - at a minimum you’ll need MPEG-4 and H.264 decoding enabled) and haali media splitter (parses the mp4 file). Works most of the time, but has occasional glitches.
Alternative: Media Player Classic Home Cinema with ffdshow-tryouts.
