cut and paste:
http://members.driverguide.com/driver/detail.php?driverid=204057
For the driver..since Memorex doesnt support their own products any longer it seems.
the 1 GB card will NOT work in the 3642. I confirmed it tonight..Good luck and may the force be with you!

can any of you guys upload an image for the sddrive that’s already formatted by that sigmatel formatter. it’s because the usb port on my player is busted so there’s no way for me to format it via that way. i can format it via a card reader only and fat & fat32 format hasn’t worked for me. i have a 256mb sdcard.

I too had the same problem on MMP3642A. I bought a “Sandisk 512 MB” flash memory card. It told me to format it. It dissapoints me to find Memorex doesn’t address this.

Step 1 - Buy A Flash Card.

Step 2 - Place The Flash Card In The Appopriate Slot.

Step 3 - Connect It to The Computer.

Step 4 - Open Start Menu > Programs > Memorex Solid State Digital Audio Player > Format

Step 5 - Switch To The Correct Drive, Usually G: And Format.

Step 6 - Place Songs In The Drive You Formatted, Usually G:

Step 7 - Drag And Drop To The Drive. Musicmatch Is A Waste Of Space.

Step 8 - Enjoy Your Extenal Memory!

*F.A.Qs*

(Q)When I Attempt To Format It Keeps Saying “Start Device In Recovery Mode.

(A)Make Sure The Card Is Not In Write Protection Mode, By Switching The Switch t Shold Work Now. See Diagram 1.0.

(Q)I Have No More Space But My Card Is Not Full.

(A)Make Sure You Drag And Dropped In The Correct Drive. Not The Device But The Card.

(Q)I Lost The Disk With All The Software For My MP3 Player!

(A)Don’t Panic Visit This Site To Get The Driver And Firmware “http://www.memcorpinc.com/downloads/" (Remove "wink

The bottom line is the player will work with a 512 MB SD card but WILL NOT work with a 1GB SD card.

Ladies and Gents. I had the same problem as all you, talked with tech support at Memorex twice, bunch of well, anyways...if you have your original CD that came with your MMP8570, then just browse the CD for the MMP8570 folder and install the setup program. It contains the ORIGINAL 1.003 firmware that WILL RESTORE your unit. I just did it after screwing up and installing the MMP8570A firmware and it restored it back to original condition - FULLY functional!

To Tati:
I just saw your message from October, and am sorry I did not respond earlier. Yes, I would love to get that 8850 installation disk if you have it still, we still can not find ours, nor can we use the 8850 without it. My e-mail direct is GillisLawOffice@aol.com.

I have an MMP8570 that was working fine until I installed the latest Memorex firmware upgrade. Now the unit is recognized by the computer (though with a blank screen) but I can’t get it to turn on without the data cable hooked up to it. The screen remains blank all the time. Doesn’t matter how many times I format the drive, it won’t come back on. Memorex does not appear to want to help me out. Anyone have any ideas?

Oops. Didn’t see some of these later messages before I posted my original. I reloaded the firmware from the original cd and all is better. Thanks to all who have posted here!

Mr T,

I have done the same thing. I installed the MMP8570A firmware in my MMP8570 unit and now my unit is useless. I have misplaced my installation CD so I can’t restore the firmware to the original one. Could you please send me the old firmware file? I can’t find it online and as expected it does not exist in Memorex website.

My email is fairuse2@yahoo.com

Thank you,
