The file C:\Films\Wasabi.avi cannot be imported because the codec required to play the file is not installed on your computer. If you have already tried to download and install the codec, close and restart Windows Movie Maker, and then try to import the file again.
How can i import this file into Windows Movie Maker?

anonymousRegularDo you have the codec and can you play the file?
If you don’t know feed the file into one of the diagnostic utilities listed on this page

Those are files on movie DVD’s. The ones you’re interested in are the VOB files. If they’re not encrypted, use the GPL MPEG-1/2 DirectShow Decoder Filter

Hello. I am a stupid, idiotic girl that is going to repeat the same message that people keep writing on here...
The file C:\Documents and Settings\xxxx\My Documents\My Videos\Music Videos\Porcupine Tree Blackest Eyes 2.avi cannot be imported because the codec required to play the file is not installed on your computer. If you have already tried to download and install the codec, close and restart Windows Movie Maker, and then try to import the file again.
Now. Will some kindly tell me WHAT THE FUCK that means. Keep in mind, I don’t even know what a frakking codec is. This, coming from a girl who is attending an IT school.

It means that your computer is missing a codec, basically. If it’s an AVI file that Codec is usually ffdshow.
