You should run codec information utilities on the file to know WHICH DirectShow filter(s) you need.
MediaInfo
GSpot
AVICodec
Any of the above utilities should work. Some work with some containers and not others, so if you’re not getting results, try another one. reply

I’ve wasted hours and hours trying to get my .avi xvid file to run.. have tried every possible thing, codecs, divx, wmp11, wmp classic, ssplayer, vlc and Nothing I mean nothing is working, seriously pissed off now, got to the point where I actually, don’t give a crap, RMVB format FTW ! <-- swear to you less complications with real media files they are seriously > than any slightly better quality .avi .mpeg or other files like these which often
don’t run reply

Try to download another media player like as KMplayer, or just download this video converter to mp4 video format. reply
