PLEASE HELP!

hi all. i am new to all the video dl n stuff. my friend told me to dl bit torrent (which i did) and then i wud b able to dl movies. i dl what i thought were mvies BUT THEY DONT PLAY!!!!! can sumone plz explain how i do all this....
plz b advised that i am EXTREMELY new @ all this n need a 1st grader’s handbook 4 it LOL

torrent files are not movie files. they’re like links. you load them into your torrent program (mutorrent, bittorrent, whatever) then it start searching for sources (peers and seeds). then it downloads a tiny bit at the time here and there. if you have tons of peers and a superfast connection (like 20 megabit FiOS), a 700MB file could take you less than half an hour to download. if the connection on the other end is slow and there are very few sources, it could take you weeks or even months to download. on average, on broadband like cable or DSL, it probably takes a few days to get it all. if you’re on dial-up, expect a wait of a week or two.
