playing avi in WMP caused computer to restart

I dont know if I have a virus or what, but everytime i try to open an Avi file in Windows Media Player the video plays for one second and then restarts my entire computer. I have Windows XP professional and the newest Windows Media Player. Please help.

looks like you have damage in some windows-system file, or maybe u run big frame-size video , u want to play avi file.it looks like u want to run divx-avi video what about using 'DivX Playa' to play that video

check the seetings in WMP by click Tools then Options

if u use the Divx playa to play avi video and it done same what happend in wmp ,then u have unsuitable seetings in codec’s (try to update the divx codec to ver5.00)

to be honest im not sure if your video is divx,but try to use other player like the one i imagin which came with DivX reply

hi all i have the same problem on windows 7 , i cant find the source of the problem ,,, iam sure i have problem in ram in my computer ,,,, i tried to install windows xp in virtual machine vmware and then playing avi file so nothing happened any one can understand reply

the problem was in the fan of the cpu .... overheated of cpu make computer restarted when i played any avi file so if any one have the same problem try to change the fan or fix it reply
