So if the photograph is asking me a hefty price of $ xxx amount up front, then charge me another $ xx dollars for the prints, then it should be stated before the contract is signed, thus letting the client know before the fact, rather than “surprise” you have to pay me $ xx for each picture. I beleive that is the reason why peope are finding ways around it because they were not told up front. When I got married, I made sure I would get the pictures.

Running a studio or any business will have cost, however hiding the information is even more costly to the client because no one in their right mind would ever pay $ xx for each picture because they have already paid something big up front.

You photographers have to make your money, fine, but don’t rip us off. I beleive is cause and effect. If there is no cause then there is no effect. I gaurantee you that if you would have told your client up front, then there would be no need to “steal” your photos. reply

This is an open challenge to anyone that can help me witha software called FlipAlbum 5.5CD (Build 5.5.0.173). Our photographer stiffed us and will not give us any pictures off the software. He wants us to fork over another $2,500.00, I told him to FíOFFÖ.

I can view the pictures off the CD, but canít save to disk or print. Iíve tried copying the files off the CD to disk, I can see miniature images of the pictures and the larger files associated with each, but canít open, need a password.
Do we have any takers, donít have any money, but you can be this FIRST to claim youíve broken this SOFTWARE for a good causeÖ.

Prt Scr will not be the same as your 3MB pics. Well, if you don’t mind to have a pour quality pics, that’s the BEST solution.

Shingo, how did you do it??? I have the same prob, paid $2000 for an album, but we don’t even have a pic to hang on the wall. Photographer wont release negatives (only for a small fortune) and I desperately would like just one photo to hang. reply

The FlipAlbum encryption does not seem to affect the image part of a jpeg file, changes in the header of the jpeg file are the reason that you can not open it. To be able to decode the jpef file you have to edit all the files with a hex editor (e.g. Hex Workshop v5, free trial at http://www.bpsoft.com/) and replace the header of the encrypted jpg file with a header of any other (not encrypted jpeg file.
Open the FlipAlbum encrypted jpg file in Hex Workshop and use edit-find (or ctrl-f) to find the first occurrence of the hex value “FFD9”, this is the marker that marks the end of the jpeg header. Delete everything from the beginning to the first occurrence of “FFD9”. Then open another (not encrypted) jpg photo file you have and copy the the part from the beginning to the first occurence of the hex value “FFD9” and then paste this at the
beginning of the encrypted jpeg file in Hex Workshop (make sure the header part ends with only one time “FFD9”). Save the now no longer encrypted file and then you will be able to open it with photoshop. Upon opening the formerly encrypted files photoshop may claim the files may be broken but is does open the files and they appear to be just perfect. Good Luck! reply

Has anyone had any luck with HexEditor? I followed the above instructions to a T and Photoshop won’t recognize the file. When I saved the file out of HexEditor, it saved it as “file”, not a .jpeg. I opened a unencrypted .jpeg in HexEditor and got the same result when I saved it and tried to open with PS.

Thanks reply

I too am having this problem with FlipAlbum. I have been able to get an image capture tool to get capture what is on screen but it does mess with the quality of the picture as a opposed to actually getting access to the original .jpg files on the cd.

Looks like the newer version of FlipAlbum (7.0) is pretty impossible to crack. None of the screen apture programs mentioned works or HexEditor. reply

I have received many emails requesting help for this issue. I would love to make a step by step tutorial to help you guys as I have helped some people to get the photos out of FA. But, before you write me, is important that you have enouth knowledge of Internet based scripting ( php, asp, etc) 'coz you need to understand that to have an idea how FA works. If you have only that is just enouth for me to help you. Why? I got a request from a guy who have no idea of any of this. Result? He could not understand what I was talking about.
- Why all this trouble, why just not post a step by step here? Simple, each CD has its own key. This key is unique and can’t be put on a key gen, for exemple. The worst is, once encrypted, cannot be decrypted... its just like md5().So, what you got to do is, find the key and use it to open the pic into a html doc. and THAN save it. Each pic usually is around 1.5MB. How? There is a file on your CD which have xhtml where you can find the 'address' for those encrypted pics location. This is the only way I found to get the original pics ( so far, I’m still working on it ). But anyway, FlipAlbum changes a line of the picture which your computer needs to read and change it with encrypted codes causing it to not load. You can see it yourself if you open a pic you took with Notepad. You’ll see de digital sign of your camera, time, day, etc AND info like colorset, pallet, blabla, blabla... Try to remove that info to see what happens :) By now, I think you already have an idea what I’m talking about... reply
