Recently I had a crash on my PC running WINME.
I reinstalled WINME over the old (corrupted) OS,
WITHOUT reformatting the HD. I was able to save 98%
of the system.
But now when I try to play MPEG-1 movies Media Player
freezes.Any other kind of movies - AVI, DivX are fine,
only the MPEG-1 are unwatchable. I suspect the problem is the MPEg-1 decoder,
which seems to be embedded into WINME. Anyone know if the codec
is downloadable somewhere? I looked for that but didn’t
find it. Any idea?

Many thanks

Which media player are ya using? Try going to Start>Run>type in “mplayer2” and press enter.

Now play a movie in the media player and see if/what error comes up and see which page it directs you to.

I just read the question again. Hhmm, perhaps it’s some corruption somewhere. This would defnitely be reason to re-install the entire codec.

Try playing the files in VideoLAN (www.videolan.org) and see if it has any troubles.
