MOV/RM into AVI/MPEG/WMV

I need to know a simple way to convert those files. My DVD burning does not accept those files and I have some family videos that are in those unaccepted formats.

So, is there a free and fast program to convert the files, or will I be able to do it some other way.

And if it’s any help, I used the Nikon Coolpix 3200 camera to film these. Is it possible to change the format it saves videos as for any future usage?
