I’ve downloaded some movies from kazaa and burned them onto discs. They will play on my pc but I want to play them on my dvd player. They won’t play on the dvd player. How do I fix this? 
do this in nero.
start new compilation chose video cd type.
add mpg or avi files.
burn.
watch on dvd.
enjoy.
Some info in this thread for making standard compliant (S)VCDs. These are playable on most DVD players.

If you’ve got a DVD burner, it’d probably be better to create a proper DVD-video.
There’s also KVCD (www.kvcd.org), which is excellent quality on a single CDR (depending on the original Source file).
I have divx video in my usb but not showing in the dvd player.
