Movie Maker Codec - MP4

i’ve had the exact same problem and i can’t resolve it. anyone have any solutions?

Apperently Wiki says that it is imposible and you can`t put on .mp4 files on WMM, tough luck srry guys, I had to learn the hard way too

It may be done if you can find some DirectShow filters. I suggest reading this for a list of some: http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?s&threadid=62723 (part 14). Pay attention to what it says: you need BOTH a splitter (aka parser aka filter for the file type aka container) and a codec (for the audio/video stream).
The two more popular splitters atm are gabest’s and haali’s.

Note: 3ivx, and the Dicas decoder will decode MP4 files that are encoded in MPEG-4 part 2 (fourcc mp4v), but not the ones in H.264 (MPEG-4 part 10 (fourcc avc1)). So you may want to try other ones first.

then download, add and convert the clips you want to use to wmm format then add away!!

If you decide to convert it instead, look up (on Google) the SUPER video converter. It’s freeware and supports practically any audio and video type.

To fix it(well an alternitive) download audacity, go to volumecontrols (start/all programs/accesories/entertainment), options, properties, click on recording, and check sterio mix, or wave out mix, check sm or wom, (sterio mix/waveoutmix), play a song on youtube, and on audacity for recording options make it sm or wom, press record, play the song, and it comes out perfectly recorded! no matter the volume your speakers are playing! then export as mp3 (you have to download someting else for that too) and then you can import it into movie maker

I was trying to import mp4 Itune downloads into windows movie maker as background music for my slide shows, but kept getting message saying I needed right codec. I used audio version of prism, converted mp4 to mp3 and was able to input those easily into WMM, A lot less hassle than trying to fing right codec package.
First I downloaded prism video converter, which didn’t work for mp4 audio, but it told me which audio converter I needed for mp4s and I downloaded that.

Simple trick - rename your file from filename.mp4 to filename.mpg and just drag and drop into the movie maker collection - you will have it import without any trouble.

u noob avi.001 is splitted file. u nid to use the 001 splitter to combine all is part back. Btw u nid to have all its other parts

DOWNLOAD THE PRISM VIDEO CONVERTER, DONT MESS WITH CODECS!!! ALL YOU DO IS CONVERT TO WMV FILES AND IT WORKS!!!
