I need some help here! When ever I try to play an AVI or XVid file, my Windows Media Player 11 gives me the “Has encountered an error & must close” notice. This is very frustrating! Is there anything that can be done? For some reason I cant even restore my computer to an earlier date!

I’ve downloaded the files thru a bit torrent, they were from aXXo, the files used to work great, then all of a sudden I can’t open / access the files?

Please Help!

I had the same problem today, it was fixed when I installed ffdshow:

http://ffdshow-tryout.sourceforge.net/

It’s some sort of multi-codec.
