Hello,
I Have an olympus C-770 digital camera. But when I upload the files I can open them with Quicktime player. My problem appears when I try to open them in Ulead VideoStudio7 or any other video editing software that is supposed to work with MP4 files. I have tried adjusting the file assosiations with no success. I emailed Olympus and they said that VideoStudio7 should work. The error i get is: (Filename).MP4.VSP file format is not valid error. As you can see it appears to have dual file extensions. Any help would be appreciated. Email me direct at james.katrina@iinet.net.au
The vsp file extension makes this confusing!
From working with quicktime pro I know quicktime can produce native mp4 files (extension .mp4), or make mpeg-4 files embedded in a quicktime container (the extension will be .mov).
For opening mp4’s in windows media player or video editors you can try getting an mpeg-4 directshow splitter. My favorite is 3ivx, which can handle mp4’s natively. From my personal experience it can also open mpeg-4 files in a quicktime container in windows media player. Another mp4 handler is the one by mpegable. There’s many out there.

With regards to the above query, I have a similar problem with a DVD disc that was given to me by someone in South Africa. I received the disc over here in the UK thinking it would be a breeze getting it to play on my laptop or PC but I have been struggling. The file format is .VSP and I cannot play it. I have tried Ulead Video Studio 10 or 12, Windows Classic player, RealPlayer, you name it but they all do NOT play this .VSP format. There are photos on the disk. Can somebody please tell me what program to use or I will have to have a nervous Breakdown trying to open the file. Many Thanks
