I recently bought a Philips DVp3140 DVD player, because it plays Divx files through my TV. It’s pretty straight-forward. I get a menu of the movies. Select and play. Everything works fine except the audio. I get nothing. I’ve tried several movies, so I don’t think its the AVI files themselves. The AVI files work fine on my computer, so I know the audio is there. Do I need to convert or fix these files for TV playback or is there a setting I’m missing

You might want to read the specs on your DivX-certified player. Does it support AC3 or mp3 audio? What audio formats does it support? And check the AVI’s for their audio format using avicodec (http://avicodec.duby.info) or gspot (http://www.headbands.com/gspot).
