can't use some installed codecs

I have many installed video codecs (I can see them in Control Panel - Sound devices/properties/video codecs properties) but in applications (for example virtualDub) I can see just few of them . For example DivX, XviD, Huffyuv are not there.
Last what I installed before it stops working was k-lite-mega-codec100rc24.exe but although I tryed to uninstall it and install what was before, installed codecs are still not listed in my applications, just in control panel
Can you please advise st. to me?
