cant see video but can hear sound with .avi on windows media player

okay i downloaded a movie and its a .avi file but when i play it on windows media player the sound works perfect but there is no image...only image visualisations like im listening to music. do i need to convert it to .mpeg? also what file format do i need to convert it to put it on a dvd?

You need to download codec to view the video

Yo i had the same problem 2 but i solved it all u need to do is download the k-lite codec pack and install it and thats u done u can see the videos
