cant see video but can hear sound with .avi on windows media player

okay i downloaded a movie and its a .avi file but when i play it on windows media player the sound works perfect but there is no image...only image visualisations like im listening to music. do i need to convert it to .mpeg? also what file format do i need to convert it to put it on a dvd? reply

Yo i had the same problem 2 but i solved it all u need to do is download the k-lite codec pack and install it and thats u done u can see the videos

Download DiVX from here http://www.divx.com/
It will download all codec for windows media player.
You can see video in widows media player or Divx Plus player.

Absolutely! I had the same problem, but on this site someone suggested that I go to:

start>controlpanel>display>settings>advanced>troubleshoot>then set the hardware acceleration

to none. It worked like a charm! Thank you, moviecodec!
