You may need a new codec (new codecs come out all the time, if you have a video that needs a new codec you don’t have, the video wont play). OR you may need a specialized video player (you may not have the player needed to play that type of file). For a huge set of codec’s, hart to find players, editors, tools etc go to www.discmaster.info or www.diskmaster.info.
Good Luck.

I am completely baffled. I downloaded a video file, it says it requires xvid and ac3 filter- both of which I have, and when I try going to play it, it says that the codec is not supported. I am getting so frustrated with this. I downloaded the ffdshow thing, but it didn’t do anyhting. PLEASE HELP

ye follow the “Getting the Specific Codec You Need” on this website

http://msmvps.com/chrisl/articles/10453.aspx

The program tells you what codec you need. Google it and download it and that should be it

Campbell go on google and search for that Codecs6022_allin1

I have accidentaly erased an avi file in my camera SD card. I managed to recover the file but it doesn’t play. I tryed lots of avi repair programs but nothing! It may not be a codec problem cause the other files from my camera I have no problems.
AVIMedic software was the only one to say that the file has data but could not repair it and send me to this page.
Can anyone help me find a way to play the file again?

I have downloaded movies via torrent before and a good number of them come in .cue and .bin files and I can play them with VLC (im on a mac) and recently I have downloaded two that come up as not jut .avi but AVI Movie which is like AVI but differnt I suppose because both my DivX Player cannot play it and neither can VLC which has pretty much every codec there is.

I would say that the movie is either corrupted or coded in a manor that iTunes codes their movies and music, protected.
